This paper is an addendum to the Pathways to good practice in NRM governance Phase 1 series of reports and scholarly papers funded by Land & Water Australia from 2005 to 2008. As part of a second phase of the project, we undertook to

• undertake a comparative analysis of the various natural resource management (NRM) audit and assessment instruments; and
• test the applicability of our Standard and Assessment Framework in jurisdictions where we had not previously worked (in Phase 1), and where necessary
• make adjustments to extend the applicability of the instrument.
